Payment Card Industry Data Security Compliance (PCI-DSS) is a vital part of many sectors, as the standards can go a long way in making sure credit card information is secure.
Businesses such as SITA, which provides technology to airports through its AirportConnect Open system, recently achieved PCI compliance. The firm stated in a release that meeting the standards created by Discover Financial, Visa, American Express, MaterCard and JCB Financial was an essential part of its overall service strategy.
“SITA is meeting the increasing requirements of the air transport community as it brings common-use passenger processing environments to a more efficient and secure level,” said Ilya Gutlin, SITA vice president for airport service. “It is another milestone in our long history of community leadership as we continue to partner with airports and airlines to meet the evolving needs for common-use systems.”
If PCI compliance isn’t achieved firms may be at risk of serious breaches. The Mercury News reports that as many as 500 customers of Lucky supermarkets had their credit card data exposed as part of a recent skimming crime ring.Back To Blog
