Consumers in Russia will soon have the chance to get their hands on a brand-new credit card, featuring one of the most popular mobile games in the world.
RBK Daily reports that an Angry Bird-branded product will be introduced through MasterCard on June 4. Also helping to launch the card is Promsvyazbank, a bank, and Internet Retail Solutions, while it represents the first time such a themed product has appeared in Russia. The brand is planning to make 100,000 cards available in its initial offering.
“We hope that customers will actively use this ‘plastic’ to pay for goods and services,” said Promsvyazbank’s director of retail products and technology department, Ivan Pyatkov, according to the source. “For the bank this is quite an attractive segment, which we will be able to offer not only a card, but also other products such as loans and deposits.”
In the United States, Capital One has been looking to expand its base with recent acquisitions. The company purchased HSBC’s U.S. credit card holdings and plans to lay off 1,000 workers as a result.Back To Blog
