Apple has received approval for a list of new patents. The one related to its car control system is particularly interesting as it could mean e-commerce will be getting a whole new host of innovative products.

Apple’s list of approved patents shows the company is branching out
Bidness Etc reported that Apple recently obtained 45 patents from the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Of particular interest was the patent related to an advanced car control system. Apple may be developing an app that allows drivers to perform various functions in their car using their smartphone. The company is already experienced in creating technology that enables users to control several devices using their iPhones, but this app may be special.

Patently Apple indicated that another patent was spotted related to Tesla cars. Some analysts wondered whether the company would make its foray into the electric car business. No information has ever been released regarding Apple making electric cars, but recently a report surfaced about how the upcoming Apple Watch will have an app that will allow users to control their Tesla. It seems that the relevance of these patents is that future Apple Watch and iPhone owners will be able to control their cars in a manner reminiscent of James Bond movies. The idea is not only cool but bodes well for the e-commerce and technology sectors as there will be many anticipated synergies. In the future drivers may buy auto parts through iTunes. Who knows?

Smartphones will get bigger, stronger and faster
According to eWeek, ARM, the manufacturer of low-power mobile chip designs that are featured in over 95 percent of the world’s smartphones is releasing a new processor core and graphics technology that will improve power efficiency and performance of mobile devices in the future. ARM officials indicated that the new chips will increase the performance of smartphones by 50 times over devices introduced to the market five years ago.

Taking a look at the bigger picture, smartphones will soon be more powerful and also capable of an increased number of outlandish functions. As per the Bidness Etc report, Apple’s car control system will allow users to connect to their automobile systems using Bluetooth. Drivers will be able to lock and unlock car doors, have personalized car settings, start and turn off the engine as well as several other tricks. Perhaps most importantly, is that the car control system opens the door to a new area of e-commerce products. In the future, car owners may be able to keep track of oil changes, tire changes, tolls, gas prices and any other purchase-related activity with regard to their car. With the introduction of Apple Pay, it is possible that drivers will have completely new ways of looking at the ownership and management of their automobiles. It remains to be seen what the technology will look like upon release, but it is exciting to think about the possibilities.
