The leading credit card security organization recently stated that it would be putting its focus on cloud computing, risk management and ecommerce following a recent vote by members on November 15.
ISO and Agent reports that the Payment Card Industry Security Standards will focus on these issues to give member organizations more guidance on how to best protect client credit card data.
PCI council general manager Bob Russo said that those taking part in the merchant services process would be able get a better handle on what they needed to do and how best to accomplish these goals.
“That group will explore best practices for merchants and providers regarding risk-based assessments, essentially for knowing cardholder data risks early in the process of operating their business,” Russo said in an interview with the source.
If retailers aren’t careful they could be putting users data at risk. In one recent case, the New York Police Department uncovered a stolen credit card ring that cost the victims millions of dollars.Back To Blog
