Many credit card firms have been giving added services to consumers, putting them in touch with commerce experts who are knowledgeable about the shopping season.

As CreditCards.com reports, merchant services industry firms are increasingly offering concierge services for customers who need help in figuring out what the best presents would be for the loved ones in their lives. The source points to one example when the Visa Signature service called a number of different stores until it was able to find a special version of Chuck Taylor sneakers.

“When you think of a concierge, you tend to think, ‘They can book a taxi for me or help me get a restaurant reservation,'” said John Carr, head of the premium consumer credit products group at Visa. “But we’ve seen a significant increase in the number of calls that are shopping related.”

Visa, the largest credit card company in the world, has been making other headlines this holiday season by partnering with Radio Shack to launch a promotional gift card campaign. People who purchase Apple’s iPad 2 will get a $50 rewards card from Radio Shack and a $50 card from Visa.
