As credit and debit card cards teeter on the edge of being integrated into virtual wallets, more retailers and restaurants are following suit and transitioning their gift card programs. Recently, Domino’s Pizza launched its virtual custom gift card.
Customers can still purchase physical gift cards in brick-and-mortar locations as well as on the company’s website, but Domino’s is now offering eGift cards as well. Consumers who purchase the digital gift cards can customize them with uploaded photos, add an audio recording that plays on delivery and include a text message.
Since the eGift cards are transmitted instantly via email, text message or Facebook, senders can choose immediate delivery or schedule it in advance so they don’t have to worry about remembering to send gifts later. Recipients can use eGift cards just like a traditional gift card through the virtual credit card terminal on the Domino’s website.
With the offer of virtual gift cards, the pizza chain is also making its mark in social commerce by making giving a shareable experience. Senders can choose to notify recipients of the gift by adding a post on their Facebook wall for all of their friends to see.Back To Blog
