Many businesses are celebrating store openings with promotional gift card giveaways to consumers

Many businesses are celebrating store openings with promotional gift card giveaways to consumers. Both national chains and local businesses – including Macy’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Stein Mart and a Memphis, Tennessee salon – are using custom cards to attract customers on opening days.

The first 500 customers to walk in the doors at a new Macy’s in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, received a $10 gift card for the store and were entered for a chance to win one of two $500 cards.

Consumers were also lured with promotional offers during the three-day grand opening of a Dick’s Sporting Goods store in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The company promised gift cards for the first 100 people in line with varying denominations between $5 and $500.

High-end salon and spa Kingdom Kreations recently opened in Memphis, Tennessee, celebrating with a promotional gift card offer, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal. To generate capital right away, the salon was offering customers $1,000 gift cards for half price, the source reports.

To make gift card giveaways even more convenient, businesses can also sell products and services online. With a virtual credit card terminal, clients will be able to redeem values online if they are unable to make it to the store’s location.
