Individuals looking for the ideal gift for a friend or family member this holiday season should consider a custom gift card, according to the results of a new survey conducted for the National Retail Federation.
The 2012 Holiday Consumer Spending Survey revealed that six in 10 of those polled say they’d like to receive gift cards this year, up from 57.7 percent last year and the most in the survey’s history.
Other items that were on many peoples wish lists this year include clothing, books, CDs, DVDs, video games and electronics.
The survey of nearly 8,900 Americans may help those who are hesitant to give a gift card realize that it’s a good choice. Some people are more comfortable choosing an actual gift, as they feel it sends the message that they put more thought into it.
Giving someone a custom gift card with a particular saying or picture on it can solve this dilemma, as it shows that the decision to give it was a well-thought out one. Additionally, gift cards of any type allow recipients to choose exactly the gifts they want.
