More consumers than ever are using mobile payments to complete transactions at credit card terminals. One of the leading brands to emerge in the sector is LevelUp, which made news recently after unveiling a brand-new charity application.
Mashable reports that the firm recently came out with a Causes program, becoming the first mobile payment firm to make a donation system. The system works by allowing users to transfer rewards into a fund for a charity of their choosing.
“We think there’s a really neat opportunity to redesign payments for the first time in 60 years,” Seth Priebatsch, founder of LevelUp, told Mashable. “The ability to bake in supporting your favorite causes and philanthropic groups into transactions, gives people the opportunity to really do good without having to think to much about it.”
LevelUp made other headlines recently when it announced that it would be giving its hardware away for free to merchants. In an announcement, SCVNGR, which produces the product, said that it was hoping to get more widespread adoption by not charging businesses to use its mobile credit card terminal.Back To Blog
