More restaurants cashing in on mobile applications

Many experts think that mobile purchasing will continue to be embraced throughout 2013, particularly in the food service industry.

In recent years, many consumers and businesses have embraced making mobile payments at credit card terminals. Many individuals find it easier to wave their near field communications-enabled smartphone over a reader than taking out a credit card, entering a PIN number or signing a slip and waiting for it to be processed. Businesses have followed suit by offering the most favored payment solutions possible.

Many experts think that mobile purchasing will continue to be embraced throughout 2013, particularly in the food service industry. According to Forbes, the National Restaurant Association reported that 54 percent of restaurant owners said that they were going to look into offering mobile payment options at their locations in 2013. This comes as a result of high demand from one of restaurants’ key demographics, 18 to 34-year-olds.

Mobile Commerce News indicated that restaurants are among some of the organizations that could benefit most from the technology, noting that some industry experts believe adoption will soon be considered crucial to continuity. The news outlet reported that though using mobile devices for payments doesn’t typically influence consumers to spend more, it is quickly becoming a preferred method to make purchases.
