Thanks to a number of recently signed agreements, PayPal is making major headway when it comes to mobile payments.

In its official blog, PayPal CEO David Marcus said that the firm had come to terms with 15 retailers to expand offerings to customers.  The new corporate partners included the following brands: Nine West, Office Depot, Rooms To Go, Tiger Direct, Abercrombie & Fitch, Advance Auto Parts, Aéropostale, American Eagle Outfitters, Guitar Center, Jamba Juice, JC Penney, and Jos. A. Bank Clothiers.

He writes that when tested with an initial retailer, the growth of the system had been encouraging.

“Innovative retailers everywhere are looking for ways to improve the shopping experience, extend loyalty programs and better engage with their customers,” Marus writes. “PayPal makes it incredibly easy for them to do so…at scale. Our first retailer, The Home Depot, went from a five store pilot test to a full rollout to their nearly 2,000 locations in just two months!”

One of the ways that brands can use PayPal’s merchant services system is with its Here smartphone credit card reader. The system allows users to ditch wallets and simply use their mobile devices.
