A recent survey asked international customers how often they used mobile payments and similar technology to engage in merchant services transactions.

A recent survey asked international customers how often they used mobile payments and similar technology to engage in merchant services transactions.

MasterCard recently announced the results of its “Tech Nation” survey, which asked more than 8,000 adults in Turkey, Russia, Great Britain, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany and Italy, to find out which nations were most rapidly using the emerging technology.

The country using mobile technology most was Russia, where 31 percent said they were using the system, followed by Turkey at 13 percent.

“It is perhaps no surprise that countries like Turkey – known to be early adopters of new technology – are using the newest methods of payment,” NFC World reports. “However it is interesting to note that countries like Russia, France and Italy are also embracing the convenience of mobile payments.”

MasterCard recently signed an agreement with Intel to increase security within its PayPass systems. Machines will now come equipped with the latter’s Identity Protection Technology.
