Social promotional gift card app Wrapp recently announced that it has entered into a partnership with payment platform Braintree, which may help the app expand to new markets.

Wrapp is a tool that enables easier free and prepaid promotional gift card giving among friends. While Wrapp has already made a splash in the European start-up market, teaming with Braintree will help it maintain its momentum through expanded payment processing opportunities. Braintree works in 130 worldwide currencies.

“Braintree understands the importance of mobile commerce and has removed the currency barriers that often come with operating in multiple markets,” said Hjalmar Windladh, CEO and co-founder of Wrapp. “By using Braintree to process payments, we can focus on growing and improving our social gifting service, knowing that the checkout process will always be consistent and super simple for our users.”

In December, 2012, CNET reported that Wrapp had become one of the most used digital wallets worldwide, with its promotional gift card offers being purchased and redeemed at astonishing rates. Windladh told CNET that, thanks to the holiday season, Wrapp gift card distribution through Facebook hit about 1 million per week.
