Zynga COO quits struggling firm

One of the biggest reasons people use mobile payments these days is to pay for social-media based games .Users are able to use an online credit card terminal to engage in the entertainment with relative ease.

As a result of the popularity, firms such as Zynga have been generating revenues through games such as Farmville. However, the company has been struggling in recent months to maintain its previous profits, resulting in leadership changes. Reuters reports that the firm’s chief operating officer John Schappert quit in recent days.

While the high-level employee parted ways with his former employer, the two parties apparently left on good terms. 

“John has made significant contributions to the games industry throughout his career and we appreciate all that he has done for Zynga,” Pincus said on Wednesday in a statement. “John leaves as a friend of the company and we wish him all the best.”

The firm, which accepts payments through mobile phones, reported that its revenue in the second quarter totaled $322 million, marking a $22 million loss.
