Sterling Payment Technologies Supports Small Business Saturday®
The fifth anniversary of the event is set to be bigger than ever.
Last year, 88 million people went out to Shop Small® on Small Business Saturday®. This year, Sterling Payment Technologies is urging all its merchants to join in and help promote the campaign in their local communities.
The first ever Small Business Saturday took place on November 27, 2010. The national initiative supported by the U.S. Small Business Administration and American Express aims to turn consumers’ focus to shopping at locally owned businesses following the year’s largest retail shopping holiday, Black Friday — ultimately boosting the local economy and helping locally owned businesses to thrive.
“The fifth anniversary of Small Business Saturday is set to be bigger than ever,” said Michele German Sterling’s executive director of marketing. “We hope Sterling’s merchants will get involved by hosting an in-store event or decorating their shop.”
This year, Small Business Saturday will be held on November 28. American Express is providing merchants with free marketing materials, including printable signs, e-mail templates and event guides at https://www.americanexpress.com/us/small-business/shop-small/.
Consumers are also urged to Shop Small and support businesses in their local communities. Shopping at small businesses does more than simply help local owners to keep their shops running. Consumers have become increasingly aware of the benefits small businesses provide to their communities. According to American Express, 89% of consumers believe that small businesses contribute positively to their communities.
