Thomas J. McHugh Joins Sterling Payment Technologies
McHugh joins Sterling as the company’s chief operating officer.
Sterling Payment Technologies, a leading provider of electronic payment processing for businesses announced the appointment of payment technology veteran, Thomas J. (Tom) McHugh as the company’s chief operating officer.
Mr. McHugh has more than thirty-five years of experience in banking, payment products and financial transaction processing in the technology industry.

Mr. McHugh was chief operating officer of Genpass, the second largest ATM processor in the United States. At Genpass, his responsibilities included overall management responsibilities for over 300 employees, managing the company’s networks, leading its research and technology groups, coordinating strategic merger and acquisition activity and managing compliance and audit efforts. His accomplishments included the establishment of two new Technology centers and processing infrastructure. New products were developed with this infrastructure that facilitated significant growth within the customer base. Genpass manages a network of more than 28,000 ATMs. In 2005, the company was sold to US Bancorp.
